Mrs. Waneda E. Pendergast, 90, of Zionsville, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Witham Hospital, Lebanon.
Mrs. Pendergast was born Nov. 10, 1922, in Howard County, to the now late Lawrence and Rosea Mae (Kincaid) Anderson. She graduated from Brook Indiana High School in 1940.
She married Dallas E. Pendergast in August 1944, in Lebanon. He passed away Nov. 4, 1972.
Mrs. Pendergast served with the WAVES in the U.S. Navy, from 1942 to 1945, during World War II. She worked for Hooks Drug Store in Indianapolis for several years, retiring in 1998. She also worked for Linders Ice Cream in Indianapolis for some time.
Her hobbies included gardening and sewing.
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Whitestown and the Women’s Auxiliary of the V.F.W. in Zionsville.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Pendergast of Lebanon and Jeanne (Carl) Horton of Zionsville; and six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 8, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
