Charlotte Ann Fife

Mrs. Charlotte Ann Fife, 69, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Charlotte was born March 24, 1943, in Hamilton County, near Sheridan. She was a daughter to the now late Ralph and Thelma Mary (McRoberts) Padgett. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1961.

She married James L. Anderson Sr. on June 10, 1961, and together they had three children. They then divorced. On Dec. 4, 1983, she married James E. Fife in Lebanon. Mr. Fife survives.

In 1978, Charlotte began working for K-Mart. She worked there for over 17 years, retiring in 1995 when the store closed. While she was employed at K-Mart she returned to school, completing her degree in secretarial sciences at Ivy Tech in 1982.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed playing the piano, crafts, reading, writing poetry and movies, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She wrote poetry for family and friends on special occasions, and many of her poems were published by the International Library of Poetry. She was awarded the Editor’s Choice Award on several occasions.

Charlotte was a member of Otterbein Church in Lebanon. She also was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sheridan, where she held most offices and served as Worthy Matron three times.

Survivors include husband, James E. Fife of Lebanon; three children, Lisa (James II) VanMeter of Magnolia, Ky.,   James L. (Jo) Anderson Jr. and Shelly C. Anderson, all of Lebanon; six stepdaughters, Patricia (Chuck) Seeright  of Lafayette, Rebecca (Clay) Carroll of Bloomfield, Carol Klem of Frankfort, Pamela (Nathan) Laughner of Forest, Tina Lynch of Seagoville, Texas, and Judith (James) Hall of Frankfort; two sisters, Shirley (Max) Thomas of Frankfort and Barbara (Dee) Lewis of Morehead City, N.C.; and 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Padgett; a sister, Dortha Mae Steelsmith; and a great-grandson, Rylan Seeright.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services, with Eastern Star Rites, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Matt Skiles officiating. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
