Rose Marie Ferguson


— Rose Marie Ferguson, 80, of Lebanon, passed on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013.

Rose Marie was born in Lebanon on Oct. 1, 1932, to the late Flossie Adair Lambert and the late Otis John Lambert.

She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1950. In 1953, she earned a bachelor of science degree from Ball State University as a registered nurse. On Dec. 6, 1953, she married LaMar Ferguson at the First Baptist Church in Lebanon, of which she was a life-long member.

Rose Marie devoted her life to caring for others. She was a dedicated registered nurse, formerly employed by the now late Dr. Jack Lenox, the Boone County Health Department/WIC, and Witham Health Services. She was a former member of Tri Kappa Sorority, a former member of the board of directors of the Lebanon Public Library, and a founding member of the Witham Foundation.

Rose Marie is survived by her husband LaMar Ferguson of Lebanon; daughter Denise (Dr. Aldo) Buonanno of Westfield; and daughter Portia (Hon, J. Jeffrey) Edens of Lebanon. Other survivors include her brother Donald Lambert of Elizabethtown, Ky., and brother Robert Lambert of Lebanon. Surviving grandchildren are Nathan (Christie) Buonanno of Carmel; Nicholas Buonanno of Indianapolis; Noah (Jasmine) Buonanno of Carmel; Laura Buonanno of Boston, Mass.; Pastor Clay Edens of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; and Clark Edens of Indianapolis. She is survived by three great-grandchildren, Garrett, James, and Jaden Buonanno of Carmel. Also, she is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Her parents and sisters Maxine Hall and Donna Jean Busenbark preceded her in death.

Family and friends will gather from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. The service will follow there at 6 p.m., with the with the Rev. David Wright officiating.

Memorial contributions will be accepted at the Lebanon Public Library, Boone County Senior Services, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
