Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Bamish

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Bamish, 82, of New Ross went to meet her heavenly father Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.

Mrs. Bamish was a New Ross High School graduate, Class of 1949.

She was a member of the New Ross Christian Church, where she was former chairwoman of the board for the church, and taught Sunday school for over 30 years. She served as treasurer of the Montgomery County Democratic Party. She had served as the club president, county president, district representative and member of the Indiana State Board for Indiana Extension Homemakers. She was a member of the CKC Extension Homemakers, served as president of the Auxiliary for the New Ross American Legion, and she was currently a member of the Jamestown Legion Auxiliary. She was also in charge of the New Ross Fish Fry for over 30 years.

Mrs. Bamish was a loyal servant of the Lord and enjoyed roses, gardening and reading. She also enjoyed singing and was an alto.

Born Oct. 26, 1931, in New Augusta, she was the daughter of John Adams Baer and Violet Faith Ormsby Baer.

She married Everett L. Bamish on Aug. 19, 1949. in Mace.

Survivors include her husband of over 63 years, Everett Bamish of New Ross; one daughter, Carolyn Bamish of New Ross; two nephews, Bill (Lynn) Casey of Advance and John (Pat) Harvey of Lafayette; as well as a niece, Nancy Stallsworth of Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Violet Faith Casey.

Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at New Ross Christian Church, 212 N. Main St., New Ross. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the church. Burial will follow at New Ross Cemetery.
