Paul Barnett Jr.

Mr. Paul Barnett Jr., 90, of rural Kirklin, died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mr. Barnett was born Feb. 29, 1924, in Boone County, to the now late Paul Barnett Sr. and Mayme (Morton) Barnett. He grew up in Clinton County and was a 1943 graduate of Kirklin Schools.

He married Belva Jane Spray on June 17, 1944, in Kirklin; she survives.

Mr. Barnett moved to Boone County in 1956. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served from Sept. 2, 1944, to March 4, 1946. He farmed for 42 years in Clinton and Boone counties.

He was a member of Scotland Christian Church, a 50-year member of Pickard Masonic Lodge and the Kirklin American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Belva Jane Barnett of rural Kirklin; two sons, James Lee (Karen) Barnett of Mechanicsburg and Jerry L. (Linda) Barnett of rural Kirklin; one brother, Richard K. (Patty) Barnett of rural Sheridan; two grandsons, Jeffrey L. (Denae) Barnett of Zionsville and Jason C. (Jodi) Barnett of Lebanon; and six great-grandsons, Tyler, Bryce, Ryan, Wyatt, Ethan and Colton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Catherine Amos and a brother, Harry W. Barnett.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 5, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorial donations may be made to Scotland Christian Church, American Heart Assoc. or the Boone County Cancer Society.
