Robert Leon Toney


Robert Leon Toney, 67, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, at his Lebanon home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1940 in Thorntown, son of the late William E. and Edith (Woodard) Toney. He married Alice M. Jamison on Nov. 8, 1961, in Lebanon; she survives. They had just celebrated their 46th anniversary.

He was a backhoe operator for 26 years with the Northfolk & Western Railroad, retiring in 1994 due to his health.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed his family and took pride in his home. An avid golfer, he enjoyed sports of all kinds. He was a 35-year member of the Lebanon Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include children Robert L. “Rob” Toney II and wife, Jane, Randy E. Toney and fiancée, Manda Fogle, and Kim Thompson and husband, Rodney, all of Lebanon; a brother, James R. Toney and wife, Mary Jane, Greencastle; and grandchildren Nicole M. Thompson, Lindsay R. Thompson, Kyle R. Toney, John P. Toney, Bradley N. Toney and Chance M. Toney, all of Lebanon. Brothers Gene, John, Bill and Howard Toney and sisters Pearl Rose, Alberta Koontz, Altia Kinslow and Shirley Chaney are deceased.

Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, where services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Ted Jamison officiating. Interment will be at Cox Cemetery, rural Thorntown.
