Joe Hicks

Joe Hicks, 73, of Zionsville, passed away Monday, July 29, 2013. 

He is survived by his loving wife Becky; brothers, Larry and Toby Hicks; sons, Greg (Kim) McDaniel, Terry McDaniel and Larry Hicks; daughter, Sarah (Chris) Craig; and grandchildren, Matthew and Kyle McDaniel.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Born and raised in Langley, Ky., Joe always had a passion for the outdoors. Whether it be fishing, deer hunting, mushroom hunting, he enjoyed the great outdoors. After graduating Langley High School, he joined the United States Navy and served our country proudly. Building on his passion for the outdoors Joe owned and operated Joe Hicks Excavating for 33 years. He will always be known for his compassionate and caring nature to all who were blessed to know him.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Zionsville, 105 W. Pine St., Zionsville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, at the funeral center, with burial to follow at Zionsville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s honor can be made to the American Cancer Society.
