Paul D. Lowry

Mr. Paul D. Lowry, 67, of Thorntown, formerly of Francesville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette. Paul was born Sept. 21, 1946, in Jasper County, a son of Donald Harold and Alice Catherine (Bayless) Lowry. He was a lifelong resident of Francesville until his recent move to Thorntown, where he resided for this past year. He graduated from Francesville High School with the class of 1964. In 1966 Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, served his country honorably during the Vietnam War, and was discharged in 1968. On Aug. 30, 1990, he married Dianna J. Whiteley in Lebanon. Mrs. Lowry survives. Paul operated the family grain farm in Francesville with his brother, Dean, for many years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Paul took great pride in his family. Having a love for the farm life, he enjoyed being a part of the Prairie Gold Rush Minneapolis Moline Club. He occasionally helped with the military honor squad in Francesville as well. He was a member of First Christian Church in Francesville, and the American Legion Post # 228 in Francesville. Survivors include his wife, Dianna J. Lowry of Thorntown; three children, Mary Ann (Brian) Pace of Bedford, Christine (Richard) Clark of Remington, and Michael (Sherri) Gill of Brownsburg; brother, Richard E. (Martha) Lowry of Francesville; two sisters, Mary A. (Eldon) Everidge of Rockville, and Donna B. (Richard) Wen of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Lowry of Reynolds, and Carol L. Lowry of Francesville; brother-in-law, Fred (Sherry) Whiteley of Lebanon; 11 grandchildren, Holley, Justin, David, Cody, Josie, Carson, Jayden, Anthony, Thomas, Angela and John Paul; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kenneth F. Lowry, Dean D. Lowry and James A. Lowry; and three sisters, Mildred K. Lowry, Sharon Lowry and Louise Lowry. Visitation is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, and noon to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Francesville First Christian Church, 192 E. Lyman St., Francesville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. James Ketchen officiating. Interment with military rites will follow at the Roseland Cemetery in Francesville.
