Bruce R. Bourne

Mr. Bruce R. Bourne, 85 of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. Mr. Bourne was born in Chicago, Ill., on Dec. 5, 1927. He was the son of the now late Harry Richard Bourne and Viola (Kleinz) Bourne Siemen. Reared and educated in Chicago, he graduated from Chicago Christian High School. He attended Illinois Institute of Technology, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree. He then went on to graduate school at Arizona State University. Mr. Bourne was first married to Mildred Jane (Jorgensen) Bourne; they divorced. On Dec. 9, 1983, he married Mary Louise (Wallace) Endres. Mrs. Bourne passed away Oct. 22, 2012. He worked as a supervisor at Essex Wire in Lafayette. For a period of time, he was a rural mail carrier and had owned and operated a drapery hanging shop. He moved to Lebanon in 1983. While in Lebanon, he delivered flowers for Mount’s Flowers & Gifts and he drove for Boone County Senior Services. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Mr. Bourne enjoyed spending time with his family. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and traveling. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lebanon, and the Lebanon Lions Club, for which he was a past president. Survivors include three children, William A. (Delia) Bourne of Ft. Wayne, Patricia J. (Kevin) Goff of Duluth, Ga., and Donna S. Bourne of Bloomington, Ill.; two stepchildren, Edwin (Susan) Endres of Lebanon and Linda Duke of Avon; half brother, Gail Siemen of Pocatello, Idaho; granddaughter, Catherine Elizabeth Bourne Pickrel of Little Elm, Texas; two stepgrandsons, Steven (Tami) Endres and Kyle Endres, both of Lebanon; and two great-grandchildren, David A. Pickrel and Abigail E. Pickrel. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife; a son, David Bourne; and a stepson-in-law, James Dennis “Denny” Duke. Graveside services will be held at a later date in Villa Grove, Ill. Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, is entrusted with the arrangements.
