Mrs. Geneva “Zibby” Hardaway, 83, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Homewood Health Care Center, Lebanon.
Mrs. Hardaway was born Nov. 11, 1928, in Montgomery County, Linden, the daughter of the now late Leonard Lee and Iva Mae (Montgomery) Lamkin. She had been reared and educated in Linden. She then moved to Crawfordsville in 1941, and graduated from Crawfordsville High School. She had continued to reside in Crawfordsville until 1957. From 1957 to 1972, the family resided in Columbia City, before moving to Lebanon in 1972.
She married Harold Thomas “Tom” Hardaway on Dec. 10, 1950, in Crawfordsville. Mr. Hardaway passed away on Oct. 11, 1976.
Mrs. Hardaway was a bank customer service representative at the First National Bank in Crawfordsville; Farmer’s Loan in Columbia City; and Boone County State Bank, which became Ameritrust in 1972; until her retirement in 1988. She had continued working part time during her retirement, until 1990.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed her family. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs.
Mrs. Hardaway was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Lebanon, Tri Kappa Sorority in Lebanon, Ulen Country Club in Lebanon and number of bridge clubs.
Survivors include one daughter, Marsha D. (David) Truitt of Lebanon; two grandchildren, Ryan S. (Meredith) Truitt of Hilton Head Island, S.C., and Kyle D. Truitt of Indianapolis; and two great-grandchildren, Thatcher Truitt and Teagan Truitt, both of Hilton Head Island.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Grenard, Virginia Beach and Dorothy Lamkin.
Private graveside services were held at 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at Oak Hill Cemetery, 935 E. Washington St., Lebanon. The Rev. Jim Ramsey officiated.
