Floyd A. Hays


Mr. Floyd A. Hays, 102, of Sheridan, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Sheridan Healthcare Center.

Mr. Hays was born Oct. 29, 1909, in Boone County, to George and Ida (Stephenson) Hays, both now deceased. He was a 1929 graduate of Sheridan High School.

He married Mary Catherine Dulin on Jan. 20, 1934. She passed away May 19, 2012.

A lifelong farmer, Mr. Hays had a great love and respect for the land.

He was a quiet and loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include two sons, Arnold (Thelma) Hays of Pendleton and Donald Hays of Cicero; one daughter, Vonda (Lowell) Shelburne of Sheridan; and nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Hays; daughter-in-law, Donna Hays; son-in-law, Bob Cherry; his parents and his wife.

A private family gathering and celebration of life will occur at a later date.

Arrangements are being handled by Kercheval Funeral Home, Sheridan.
