Nona Fay (Tinsley) Van Dusen, 69, of Thorntown, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013.
Nona was born March 9, 1944, in Swifton, Ark., to Virginia Tinsley and the now late Taylor Tinsley. Reared and educated in Arkansas, she was the salutatorian of her high school class.
She was married to James William “Jim” Van Dusen, and he survives.
Nona worked for 22 years at Waste Management.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Nona loved every minute with her family. She was an avid gardener and loved to grow flowers. She also enjoyed riding motorcycles and watching NASCAR races.
Nona was a member of the Dover Christian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Van Dusen of Thorntown; her mother, Virginia Tinsley of Hoxie, Ark.; two children, Deborah Gardner of North Hollywood, Calif., and Jim (Tricia) Van Dusen Jr. of Frankfort; three sisters, Pat Tinsley, Mary Hawkins and Margie Starling, all of Hoxie; brother, Roger Tinsley of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; grandson, Brandon Van Dusen of Frankfort; and great-grandson, Bentley Van Dusen.
Nona was preceded in death by her father, Taylor Tinsley.
Visitation was held Tuesday in Hoxie. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, June 26, at the Bryan Funeral Home, 415 N. West St., in Hoxie. Interment will follow at Lawrence Memorial Cemetery in Hoxie.
