Ralph L. Roseboom, age 83, of Birchwood, Wisc., died Friday, July 26, 2013, at St Joseph Hospital in Marshfield.
He was born April 24, 1930 in Boone County, Indiana to Clyde and Goldie (Northcut) Roseboom. Ralph graduated from Whitestown High School, and on August 15, 1948 he married Katherine"Katie" Clemens. Together they farmed in Indiana, and Ralph was very active in the Whitestown Masonic Lodge, and served as Master of that Lodge. In 1961, he and Katie moved to the Long Lake area in Washburn County. They continued farming there until Ralph went to work for Central Pipeline of Hibbing, Minnesota in 1966. In 1969, he began his employment with Michels Pipeline of Brownsville, Wisconsin. Ralph worked in 17 different states and Washington, D.C. He retired as Project Superintendent in 1987, and returned to the farm.
Ralph served as Chairman of the Long Lake Town Board before moving to the Town of Birchwood in 1992. He later served as Chairman of the Birchwood Town Board, and served several years on the Washburn County Board of Adjustments and the Washburn County Board of Supervisors. He enjoyed baseball, high school and college basketball, deer and raccoon hunting. Ralph loved horses and hound dogs.
He is survived by his wife Katherine, of Birchwood; 3 daughters: Kathy (Michael Ross) Wergin, Hayward, CA; Susan (Greg) Paulus, Rice Lake; and Laura (Tim) Crotteau, of Rice Lake; 4 grandsons: Joe Swan, Jason Paulus, Andy Paulus, and Matthew Crotteau; 6 great grandsons: Dustyn Paulus, Zachary Paulus, Cody Swan, Travis Swan, Jared Swan, and Drew Paulus; and 2 great granddaughters: Karmen Paulus and Shauna Swan. In addition to his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Robert Earl and Earl Ray Roseboom; 1 granddaughter Katie Swan; and 1 grandson: Jim Paulus.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Long Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Mary Strom officiating. Burial in Long Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Swan, Jason Paulus, Andy Paulus, Matthew Crotteau, Dustyn Paulus, Zachary Paulus . Visitation was from 3 -7 PM on Monday, July 29 at Skinner Funeral Home in Rice Lake where the Rice Lake Masonic Lodge conducted a Masonic Service at 6:45 p.m, and Tuesday 1 hour prior to services at the church. The Skinner Funeral Home of Rice Lake handled arrangements.
