Herman Ragsdale, 91, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2013.
Born Sept. 13, 1921 to the now late Lora Ray and Nellie Mable (Randle) Ragsdale in Pittsboro, Herman graduated from Pittsboro High School in 1939 and married Florence Lillian Broyles in Avon, on Nov. 30, 1945.
Herman was a grain farmer and raised cattle in Hendricks and Boone counties until his retirement in 1988. He continued to garden and enjoyed watching the crops grow. He was a member of the Pittsboro Christian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Florence (Broyles) Ragsdale; daughters Linda (Tom) Cowley and Name E. (Tommy) Smith; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Hobart Ragsdale.
Visitation will be noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2013, with funeral service at 3 p.m., at the David A. Hall Mortuary, Pittsboro, with burial in K of P Cemetery, Lizton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pittsboro Christian Church or Phi Beta Psi Sorority cancer research.
