Elizabeth K. “Betty” Busald, 90 years old, passed away on June 13, 2013, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon. She was born in Madison, on March 17, 1923, to the now late Wilburn Walter and Leota (Denney) Mickel.
She was reared and educated in Indianapolis, where she graduated from Manual High School. Following high school, she attended nursing school.
On Oct. 20, 1945, she was married to Francis Albert Busald, in Indianapolis. Mr. Busald passed away on May 17, 1986.
Betty was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon and was active in the Altar and Rosary Society (Women’s Club) for many years. She was an active member of Western Boone Athletic Boosters. Betty also was involved with the Santa Rosa Historical Society in Milton, Florida, where she lived from 1990 to 2007. In Florida and Indiana, she was active in quilting guilds. For 10 years, Betty worked as a visiting nurse for the Boone County Cancer Society.
She was a dedicated homemaker and matriarch of her family. She enjoyed quilting and gardening.
Survivors include five children, Mrs. Janie Maddux and husband, Dr. Ron of Milton, Fla., Mr. Mike Busald and wife, Kathy, of Indianapolis, Mr. Joe Busald and wife, Sandy of Lebanon, Mr. Tim Busald and wife, Diane of Grants Pass, Ore.,
Mr. John Busald and wife, Lisa, of Indianapolis; two sisters Mrs. Jane Key and husband, Perry, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Mrs. Emmy Lou Whalen of Greenwood; one brother Mr. Joe Mickel and wife, Ann, of Columbus; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren;and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Busald; and two brothers, Bill Mickel and Bob Mickel.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., in Lebanon. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E. South St., in Lebanon, on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m., the Rev. Timothy Kroeger officiating. The Rosary will be held at the mortuary on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. prior to the visitation.
Interment will follow at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.
