Jim E. Hollingsworth

Lakeland, Fla.


Mr. Jim E. Hollingsworth, 79, of Lakeland, Fla., formerly of Lebanon, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at his son’s home in Lebanon.

Jim was born April 5, 1934, in Lebanon, the son of the now late James Emmett and Velma M. (Tanselle) Hollingsworth.

Reared and educated in Boone County, he was a graduate of Pinnell High School, class of 1952. Following school, Jim was drafted into the United States Army and served his country honorably from 1956 to 1958.

He married Ruth Ann Peabody on June 12, 1953, at the Old Union Church in Boone County. The Hollingsworths had just celebrated their 60th anniversary this month with family and friends.

For several years Jim worked at Pitman Moore, now known as Dow Chemical. For more than 18 years, he was the production control manager at Biddle Precision Components in Sheridan. He then went to work for Indiana Mills and Manufacturing, retiring in 1998. During his retirement, Jim worked part time at Myers Mortuary.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed golfing and bowling, having participated in a bowling league for nearly 30 years.

Jim was a member of Old Union Church in Boone County; Masonic Lodge No. 690, Clinton County; Order of the Eastern Star No. 22 of Lebanon; and was past grand patron of the Indiana Grand Chapter of the Eastern Star 1995-96.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Hollingsworth of Lakeland; three sons, Vincent L. (Sharon) Hollingsworth of Lebanon, Victor D. Hollingsworth of Lakeland and Vance C. (Stacy) Hollingsworth of Woodlands, Texas; two sisters, SueAnn Y. (William) West and Sharon R. (Maurice) Louks, all of Lebanon; seven grandchildren Kristin (Hollingsworth) Wollak and husband Matthew, Steven Hollingsworth, Tyler Hollingsworth, Alexandra Hollingsworth, Gabrielle Hollingsworth, Kreigh Hollingsworth and Caleb Hollingsworth; and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Emil Gene and Donnie K. Hollingsworth; and a sister, Pattilu Hollingsworth.

Visitation is 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Eastern Star rites and Masonic services will begin at 7 p.m. at Myers, following the visitation. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Raymond Duff officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Jamestown.
