James W. Allen

1945-2012

Mr. James Walter Allen , 67, of Lebanon, died Dec. 29, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Allen was born in Lebanon, Indiana on Dec. 22, 1945, the son of the now late Harry Floyd and Olive May (Hammack) Allen.

 He was reared and educated in Lebanon.

On Feb. 17, 1968, in Beech Grove, Indiana, he was married to Sharon L. (Likens) Allen. Mrs. Allen survives.

Jim worked for the street department for the city of Speedway for several years.  He spent a period of time at Webb Wheel in Lebanon and B&J Janitorial Service in Indianapolis.  Most recently, he worked as the janitor and supervisor for Wal-Mart, retiring in 1985.

He was a man dedicated to God and his family.  Having never met a stranger, Jim enjoyed striking up conversations and sharing his faith on the CB radio.

He was a member of Lebanon Rock Church, former member of the Moose Lodge No. 1269, and former member of the Eagles Lodge.

Other survivors include son Mr. Robert A. Allen of Lebanon, and grandson Robert A. Acton of Thorntown,

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd F. Allen and Harry Floyd Allen, Jr.

Visitation is planned for  9 to 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Myers Mortuary,1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Services will immediately follow; the Rev. Matt Skiles officiating.

Interment will follow at the Center Cemetery in Boone County.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allen Family c/o Lebanon Rock Church, 504 E. Elm St., Lebanon, Indiana 46052
