Raymond C. Johnson

— Raymond C. Johnson, 95, of Jamestown, died Friday, May 10, 2013, at Brownsburg Meadows.

Raymond was born in Carroll County on April 28, 1918. He was the son of the now late Clarence and Edna (Powell) Johnson. He graduated from Scircleville High School and Purdue University, with the first class of 1,000, in 1939. Raymond enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country.

Raymond married Katheryn McAfee on May 3, 1941, in Burlington; she preceded him in death.

Early in life Raymond farmed with his father. He worked for a milk company in Sheridan for 10 years, and then bought a farm in Advance. He farmed and delivered mail as a rural route carrier for many years. He was an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed watching basketball and other sports on television.

Survivors include his children, Arlan (Mary) Johnson of Jamestown, Sharon (Mike) Horan of Avon, Steve (Sandy) Johnson of Jamestown, and Janet (Bill) Stonecipher of Covington; and seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson will be laid to rest in the Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankfort, immediately following a private family service.

Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278.

Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Robert Porter Funeral Home, 315 W. Main St., Jamestown.
