Norma L. Mercer

— Norma L. Mercer, 81, of Jamestown, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Homewood Health Care.

She was born on March 5, 1932, in Hendricks County, the daughter of the now late Glendon and Velma Asher Brunes.

Norma married Darol L Mercer on Jan. 21, 1956, at the Lizton Christian Church. He survives.

She graduated from Lizton High School in 1950. She went on to graduate from Indiana Business College. She worked at the Lizton State Bank and then Allison’s before becoming a homemaker. Norma was a devoted farm wife and committed to her family. She loved gardening and flowers, attending athletic events of John and Elizabeth, and following Elizabeth in 4-H. She was a member of the Advance Community Christian Church.

Surviving are her son, John D. (Debbie A.) Mercer of Jamestown, granddaughter Elizabeth A. Mercer of Jamestown, and brother, John Brunes of Lizton.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Brunes.

Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Advance Community Christian Church. Services will be held at the church at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 20, with Kyle Drown officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Union Cemetery, Jamestown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Advance Community Christian Church, 2675 S. State Road 75, Jamestown, IN 47147.
