Anna L. Miller

Mrs. Anna Louise Miller, 92, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Miller was born July 17, 1921, in Lebanon, the daughter of the now late John Clyde and Mary Gertrude (Ryan) Armstrong.

She was a lifelong resident of Boone County, with the exception of short stays in Texas, Kansas, Nebraska and Fort Scott, Mo., as she traveled with her Air Force husband. She was a graduate of Lebanon High School in 1939. She attended Ball State University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in education in 1943.

On June 12, 1943, she was married to Carl Eugene “Gene” Miller in San Angelo, Texas, while Mr. Miller attended training in the Air Force. He passed away on June 30, 2006.

In 1960, Mrs. Miller began teaching first-grade students at Thorntown Elementary School. She taught there for 24 years, retiring in 1984.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family, reading, traveling, and playing bridge with family and friends.

She was a member of Central Christian Church in Lebanon, P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter A in Thorntown, Tri Kappa Sorority in Lebanon, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, Boone County Retired Teachers Association and Bridge Club.

Survivors include a son, Thomas C. (Janet) Miller of Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Barbara Miller of Fishers; one sister-in-law, Rose Marie (Sam) Dickey of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Brenda Miller and Jacob (Angie) Miller, all of Lebanon, Keith (Anne) Miller of Arizona, Bryan (companion, David) Miller of Chicago, Ill., Jonathan (Jena) Miller of Fishers, and Matthew (Cristen) Miller and Clayton Miller, all of Fishers; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Daniel A. Miller.

Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel of Memories. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
