Janie F. (Barber) Adair-Boyer

Janie F. (Barber) Adair-Boyer, 87, of Sheridan, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.

Born Nov. 1, 1925, in Itasca, Texas, she was the daughter of John David and Addie Bell (Wells) Barber.

She worked for Western Electric for over 30 years as a line person and a utility person, and was one of the first line persons to assemble ringers for the princess phones.

Janie was a member of the Pioneers, the K.V. Elliott Post 67 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Good Sam’s Club.

On June 3, 1944, she married Byron Eugene Adair; he preceded her in death on March 16, 1972. On Nov. 18, 1972, she married LaVerne Boyer; he survives her.

In addition to her husband, Janie is survived by one son, Davie G. (Rebecca) Adair of Sheridan; two stepsons, Michael (Cindy) Boyer of Arkansas and Garry Boyer of Sheridan; one daughter, Margaret Ann Hoelscher of Austin, Texas; and 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; her first husband, Byron; her daughter-in-law, Doris Adair; three brothers, D’armon, J.D. and Joe Barber; two sisters, Dora Kunkel and Nancy Hawk; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 2, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 3, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harrell Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
