---- — Mrs. Mary S. Mount, 90, of Lebanon, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at her residence.

Mary was born near Whitestown in Boone County, on May 8, 1923, a daughter of the now late Grover and Hazel Inez (Engledow) Staton. She was a lifelong resident of Boone County, and graduated from Whitestown High School. She attended Purdue University.

On Feb. 14, 1963, she was married to John H. Mount Jr. in Lebanon. Mr. Mount passed away Oct. 3, 2003.

While at school, Mary worked as a Purdue laboratory technician. She then went to work at Stewart Warner for a period. She also had worked for the doctors John D. Coons and E.A. Rainey, and at the Akerman Drug Store. She and her husband co-owned Mount’s Flowers in Lebanon for many years.

Mary was a devoted wife, stepmother and aunt. She loved flowers and catering weddings. She also enjoyed reading, music, family gatherings, and traveling to Florida.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon.

Survivors include stepdaughter, Sharon (Michael) Bill of Carmel; sister-in-law, Patsy L. Staton of Lebanon; six nieces, Pat (Ray) McQuern and Vickie S. (Michael) Smith, all of Lebanon, Rebecca A. “Becky” (Gary) Ottinger of Whitestown, Tonya K. Staton of Lebanon, Bev (Ron) Smith of Cleveland, Tenn., and Sandi Roberts of Richmond, Mich.; and six nephews, Larry (Marcella) Peetz and Charles (Linda) Peetz, all of Lebanon, Robert Schofield of Ohio, Art (Paula) Roberts of Muncie, and Robert (Juna) Mount and Rick (Donna) Mount, all of Lebanon.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; three sisters, Opal Schofield, Idabelle Bowen and Martha Peetz; a brother, Richard Staton; and a niece, Sharon Schofield.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. David Wright officiating. Entombment will follow services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
