James A. "Buck" Wyatt

---- — Mr. James Allen “Buck” Wyatt, 86, of Lebanon, passed away Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at his residence in Lebanon.

Buck was born April 23, 1927, in Lebanon. He was a son of the now late Verlin and Hazel Urcie (Apple) Wyatt.A lifelong Boone County resident, he attended Pinnell High School. He was then drafted into the United States Army Air Corps in June 1945. He attended basic training at Camp Atterbury. After basic training, Buck served in Guam, Tinian and Saipan of the Mariana Island Group, South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in November 1946.

Following his service, Buck returned to Boone County, where he first worked for the Boone County Highway Department for three years and then the Boone County Locker Plant for six years. On April 6, 1964, he went to work for Commercial Filters in Lebanon, where he was classified as an erector. He retired from there.

He was first married to Donna (Bougher) Wyatt in Lebanon, they were later divorced. On July 16, 1971, he married Mary Ann (Whitaker) Trips in Lebanon. She passed away on Jan. 3, 2006.

Buck enjoyed his family and their activities. In addition, he had many hobbies including gardening, cooking and fishing. He was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed rooting for the Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts.

He attended New Brunswick Church in Lebanon, and was a member of the Boone County Conservation Club and Local # 7651 District 30 of the United Steel Workers Union.

Survivors include four daughters, Vicki Louise Bryant of Indianapolis, Angela Kay Jordan of Denim Springs, La., Mary Lee Williams of Lafayette and Martha Ann “Marty” Jordan of Lebanon; four stepchildren, Charles “Butch” (Anita) Trips of Indianapolis, Fredna Joyce (Harold “Butch”) Noe of Lebanon, Shelia Darlene (Everett E. “Bud”) Minor of Frankfort and Terry Lynn (David M.) Benge of Lebanon; eight grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 16 stepgreat-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild.

James was preceded in death by his parents and his wife; a brother, Bill D. Wyatt; three stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Lowell Spaulding officiating. Interment and military rites will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
