---- — Mrs. Phyllis Ann Crane, 88, of Lebanon, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon.

She was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Lebanon, a daughter of the now late Deforest Grey and Hazel Gladys (Whitinger) McCord. A lifelong resident of Lebanon, she graduated from Lebanon High School with the class of 1943.

Phyllis and William Allen Crane were married on Feb. 18, 1944, in Lebanon. Mr. Crane passed away on Aug. 20, 1995.

She and her husband opened Crane Nursery north of Lebanon in 1957, and she spent 30 years working at the family business.

An avid bridge player, Phyllis participated in various competitions, including tournaments at Ulen Country Club. She also competed with Mary Beth Pauley and placed high in tournaments throughout the state in the last 18 years.

As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Phyllis was devoted to her family and enjoyed their interests and activities. She liked working crossword puzzles and following the Fox News channel.

Phyllis was a member of Central Christian Church, Ulen Country Club and Tri Kappa Sorority, all in Lebanon.

Survivors include three children, David A. (Patricia) Crane of Indianapolis, John M. (Rita) Crane of La Quinta, Calif., and Linda Crane (William) Hawkins of Encinitas, Calif.; and six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; a brother, Albert Grey McCord; a sister, Jean Ellen McCord; and a granddaughter.

Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Brad Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon.
