Sally K. Teachout

Sally Kay (Cochrane) Teachout, 65, of Lebanon, passed away on Sept. 13, 2013. She was born Nov. 16, 1947, in Indianapolis, to the late Thomas and Wilma (Bradley) Cochrane. She attended Orchard Country Day School and North Central High School. Sally graduated from Ball State with Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education in 1968, achieved her master’s in education from Indiana State, and attended post-graduate studies at University of Toledo. Over her 35-year career she taught elementary education in Indiana, Michigan and Ohio, at both public and private schools, and was also an administrator at several of these institutions. Sally was the recipient of two heart transplants from Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, the first in 1985. She enjoyed traveling, the Colts, teaching vacation Bible school and Sunday school, providing tours at the Children’s Museum, and tutoring. She is survived by David W. Teachout, her husband of 35 years. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Westside Church of the Nazarene, 8610 W. 10th St., Indianapolis. The Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place at Washington Park North Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Methodist Health Foundation, P.O. Box 7168, Indianapolis, IN 46207; or Traders Point Christian Academy, 6600 S. Indianapolis Road, Whitestown, IN 46075.
