---- — Mrs. Doris L. Sexton went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sept. 14, 2013. Doris was born Nov. 4, 1933, in rural Greenfield, to parents Everett L. Watkins Sr. and Helen L. (Simpson) Watkins. The Watkins family lived in rural Hanover for a short time before moving to rural Henry County. Doris started school in Millville before moving to New Lisbon, where she started the 3rd grade and graduated high school in May 1951. While attending her senior year of high school, she also attended New Castle Business College. Doris married Bob D. Sexton on Jan. 17, 1954, in New Lisbon. Their first home was in New Castle. After Bob returned from his military service, they moved to Lebanon, where they raised their family. She began her business career at Perfect Circle Corporation in Hagerstown. In Lebanon, Doris worked for Commercial Filters, Kroger Company and ended her career at Citizens Bank and Trust Company. After Doris and Bob retired, they spent their winters in Ft. Myers and Punta Gorda, Fla. A dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Doris loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, flowers, gardening, camping, reading, painting and church membership. Survivors include three children, Debra J. (Gary) Batten, Michael R. (Stephanie) Sexton and Carolyn J (John) Mitchell; four grandchildren, Christen Young, Stephen Sexton, Kathryn Sexton, David Sexton, Misti (Brad) Fanton, Traci Bolle, Aimie (David) Abrams, Tonya (Lupe) Martinez, Tammy (Barry) Cook and Mindy (Donavan) Clary; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Everett L. (Mary Lou) Watkins Jr.; and brother-in-law, Bill D. (Meredith) Sexton. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband; grandparents, William and Eola Simpson, Lillian and Hosea Crafton, and Rawleigh Watkins; sisters-in-law, Betty Hall and Bonnie Mannon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. today, Sept. 17, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Merv McNair officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery, Jamestown.
