---- — Mr. Leonard D. Johnson Jr., 84, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at Essex Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lebanon. Leonard was born March 18, 1929, in Nashville, Tenn., a son of the now late Leona L. (Hatfield) and Leonard D. Johnson Sr. He was reared and educated in Nashville, before enlisting in the United States Army. After serving his country honorably, he moved to Indiana. He married Carolyn G. Walls on Oct. 24, 1987, in Lebanon; she survives. He was previously married to Irene (Oaks) Johnson; she preceded him in death. Leonard worked for International Harvester as a line worker for 30 years. He retired in 1985, and during retirement he worked at several part-time jobs. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who enjoyed the time spent with his family. In his spare time, he liked to do woodworking. Leonard was a member of Lebanon Church of Christ, where he held the position of elder; and the UAW. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Johnson of Lebanon; four children, Diana L. (John) Stultz of Frankfort, Brent E. (Donna) Williams of Lebanon, Brenda C. Melvin of Lebanon and Daniel A. (Eliza) Williams of Lebanon; and 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Irene (Oaks) Johnson; two brothers, Norman and Ernest; and three sisters, Josie, Dorothy and Ne-Hi. Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Steve Jaggers officiating.
