---- — Mr. Warren Anson Thomas, 94, of Colfax, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Mr. Thomas was born Jan. 7, 1919, in New Richmond, to the now late Anson Sherman Thomas and Jennie Deeter Thomas. He was a graduate of Danville High School. He graduated from Central Normal College, Danville, in 1942, and received his master's degree from Butler University in 1961.

He married Gale I. Lawler on Oct. 12, 1940, in Anderson. She passed away Aug. 9, 1997.

Mr. Thomas served in the Army/Air Force in North Africa and Italy during World War II from 1942 to 1945.

After marrying, the couple lived in Amo. They then moved to Colfax in 1951, where Mr. Thomas taught school and farmed. He taught at New Palestine High School, Paragon High School, Stilesville High School, Plainfield Junior High School, Darlington High School, Jackson Township High School in Clinton County, and finally Clinton Central High School, where he taught for 24 years.

Mr. Thomas was a member of Thorntown Christian Church, where he was an elder emeritus; national and state teachers associations; and Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include Paul (Carol)Thomas of North Salem and Kent (Jill) Thomas of Colfax; grandchildren, Lisa Thomas (Bret) Burgin, Kayla Thomas and Kyle Thomas; great-grandchildren, Brandon Burgin and Barrett Burgin; and sister, Helen Ernstes of Lebanon.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steven; and sister, Ruth.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, Thorntown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Thorntown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Thorntown Christian Church.
