Vivian I. Smiley

Vivian I Smiley, 90, of Lebanon, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013. She was born on Feb. 14, 1923, in Big Springs, the daughter of the now late Edward and the late Daryl (Seeright) Barker. Vivian was married to the now late Albert A. Smiley for 45 years. He passed away on May 17, 1985. She was a member of Centenary Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and playing checkers and cribbage with her grandchildren. She is survived by twin sons, Nelson (Esther) of Brownsburg, and Norman (Gail) of Lebanon; grandchildren Curtis Smiley, Mark (Melody) Smiley, Inga (Joe) Kahre, Lynette (Chad) Sloan, and Eric (Lucy) Smiley; and great-grandchildren, Taban and Brennan Kahre, Anna Smiley, Alivia and Corban Sloan, Kiley Stier, Damon, Marshal, and Lena Smiley. She was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Padgett, and brothers Eugene Barker, Doyle Barker, and Ivan Barker. Family and friends will gather from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, at Strawmyer Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon Street, Lebanon. Service will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Anthony Stone officiating. Vivian will be laid to rest in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Indianapolis Office, 6415 Castleway W.
