Judith K. "Judy" Black

Mrs. Judith Kay “Judy” Black, 64, of Lebanon, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013, at her residence. She was born in Crawfordsville on Dec. 17, 1948, a daughter of the now late Chester L. and Arletta (Harter) Conkright. Reared and educated in Montgomery County, she attended New Market High School. Judy married Robert Lawrence Black Sr. in Lebanon on June 6, 1995. Mr. Black survives. She worked as a custodian for the Crawfordsville School Corporation. She moved to Lebanon in 1994, and worked at Kaufmann Engineering, Inc., as an assembler until 2003, when she became disabled. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved every moment spent with her family. Judy enjoyed riding motorcycles, boating and camping. Survivors include husband, Robert L. Black Sr. of Lebanon; two daughters, Angela K. (Wade) Baker of Crawfordsville, and Julie A. (Matt) Bechtold of Greenwood; three stepchildren, Robert L. Black Jr., Shelly Black and Mistie (Donald) Coverdale, all of Lebanon; brother, Bill Conkright of South Carolina; three sisters, Patty J. (Les) Proctor of Darlington, Phyllis (Carl) Richardson of Kentucky, and Susan Graves of Crawfordsville; five grandchildren and six stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James Conkright and Thomas Conkright; a son, Michael J. Smith; and a grandson, Kaleb Smith. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. No services are planned. Entombment of ashes will be held at a later date at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
