John C. Conner

1944-2013

John Calvin Conner, 69, of Lebanon, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Lubbock, Texas. He was a graduate of The University of Texas in 1981, with a master’s degree in nuclear science. Prior to retirement, he worked as a nuclear physicist. He was passionate about science, history and was a Free Mason.

In retirement he was a patriot, following current events and lovingly caring for his two pets. He served his community doing reading tutorials at elementary schools, and he enjoyed being a volunteer at Witham Memorial Hospital. He taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Lebanon, and had a solid belief in God and Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his daughter, Meghan Mertz; son-in-law, Kevin; grandchildren, Kierstin and Blaine; and stepdaughter, Kim, and her family. He will be missed by family and friends whose lives he touched. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.

John’s final resting place will be the countryside of Texas, where his cremains will be placed.

He was humble and did not want a funeral, but the family sends a very special thanks to all who participated in his care at Witham Memorial Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital and Seton.
