Charlotte M. Cain

Mrs. Charlotte Mae Cain, 79, of Thorntown, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, Nov. 4, 2013. Mrs. Cain was born in Crawfordsville on Aug. 17, 1934. She was the daughter of the now late Floyd N. and Mary E. (Largent) Darwactor. She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1953, and married Harold L. Cain on Dec. 20, 1952. Mr. Cain survives. The family moved to Boone County in 1967. Mrs. Cain worked as a waitress and cook at Thorntown's Chief Inn and as a nurse's aide at Essex Nursing Home in Lebanon. She retired from Parkwood Health Care, Lebanon, after 25 years as a qualified medicine aide. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Linda Lou Bailey; three brothers; and three great-granddaughters. She is survived by children, Darryl (Becky) Cain of Elizaville, and Gary (Teresa) Cain, Mary Cain and Pam (James Jr.) Warmoth, all of Thorntown; sister, Joan McDaniel of Crawfordsville; brother, Royce Darwactor of Leroy, Ill.; as well as 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She loved to crochet and read, especially enjoying Christian fiction. She was looking forward to the births of two additional great-grandchildren. A member of Crawfordsville VFW Auxiliary Post 1431 since 1980, she became a lifetime member in 1993. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home, 116 W. Plum St., Thorntown. Pastor Mike Porter, Mrs. Cain's brother-in-law, will preside over the service at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Thorntown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boone County Cancer Society, 117 W. Elm St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
