James Ronald “Ron” Dean Sr.

Mr. James Ronald “Ron” Dean Sr., 65, of Indianapolis, formerly of Whitestown, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Miller Senior Living in Indianapolis.

Ron was born on Oct. 12, 1947, in Cow Creek, W.Va., the son of the now late James Lester and Edith (Enyart) Dean. He attended Logan High School in Logan, W.Va.

In 1964, Ron moved to Whitestown, and then he moved to Frankfort in 1973. In 1983, he moved to Indianapolis, where he had since resided.

He married Darlena M. Mullinax on Jan. 19, 1974, in Frankfort; Mrs. Dean survives.

Ron worked for Sun Chemical from 1974 to 1982. He retired from the maintenance department of East Community Hospital in Indianapolis after 23 years. From 2003 to 2012, he owned D & R Medical.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. He enjoyed his family, fishing, playing cards, shooting and NASCAR events.

Survivors include his wife,  Darlena M. Dean of Indianapolis; three children, James Ronald “Ron” Dean Jr. of Delphi, James Michael “Jamie” Dean of Frankfort and Bradley DeWayne Dean of Noblesville; four brothers, Jerry Dean of Frankfort, Pete Dean of Lebanon, Rick (Terri) Dean of Frankfort and Larry (Carol) Wiggins of Chapmanville, W.Va.; five sisters, Marie Hall of Frankfort, Donna (Bob) Deardorff of Jacksonville, Fla., Kay (Terry) Wilson of Brownsburg, Gail Dean of Lebanon and Brenda (Bill) Kinslow of Thorntown; three stepsisters, Phyllis Vickers of Frankfort, Eva (Charlie) Brumit of Johnson City, Tenn., and Penny Russo of Peru; two grandchildren, Sydney Barnes and Micah Dean, both of Monticello; and 20 nieces and nephews.              

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Dallas Hall.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 27, at Myers Mortuary, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Myers Chapel of Memories, with Pastor Tony Oliver officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
