Fernand “Frenchie” A. Perras

Mr. Fernand “Frenchie” A. Perras, 81, of Lebanon, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

The son of Arthur and Emelda (Drouin) Perras, Frenchie was born June 19, 1931, in Coaticook, Canada. He was married to Lena (Beaudoin) Perras on May 28, 1951; she preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2004. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War.

Frenchie was vice president of Asplundh Brush Control for over 40 years, retiring in 1996. He owned Ace Hardware and F&L Rental and was co-owner of the Boone County Airport and Lebanon Concrete. He was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon. His memberships included VFW Post 910 in Lebanon, American Legion Post 113 in Lebanon and the Lebanon Elks Lodge 635. Frenchie was an avid golfer, played cribbage and shuffle board.

Survivors include his children: daughter, Rita Stathers of Lebanon; son, David Perras of Indianapolis; son, Lucien (Holly) Perras of Lebanon; and daughter, Michele Perras of Avon; grandchildren: Chelsea Hill, Chalais Stathers, Carly Perras, Cassie Perras, Carrie Perras and Clayton Perras; a great-granddaughter, Hattie Hill; a sister, Regeanne Fregeau; and sister-in-law, Alice Perras. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Real Perras.

Family and friends will gather on Friday, Nov. 30, from 4 until 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. in the Strawmyer & Drury Mortuary, 2400 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon. Due to construction on the new St. Joseph Catholic Church, Father Tim Kroeger will officiate his Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 2625 Elm Swamp Road, Lebanon. Mr. Perras will be laid to rest following military graveside rites in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lebanon.

Memorial contributions in memory of Frenchie and Lena may be made to the St. Joseph Building Fund, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 319 E. South St., Lebanon, IN 46052.
