It's the Colts' time; Favre's time is past

By Jim Johnson

I am convinced that the Indianapolis Colts will make it to the Super Bowl this year.

Well, that’s all I really have to say about that. Did I make my point?

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning will return completely healed from the knee surgery he had earlier this month.

Marvin Harrison will be back from his injury that kept him on the sidelines for the majority of last season.

Dwight Freeney will also be back from last year’s injury.

While those veterans were kept on the sidelines, the second string players were given play time and experience that will be very valuable once the season begins.

And then you look at the Indianapolis Colts’ depth chart and you see big name players who saw a great amount of playing time last season and are now second string players - guys such as Dominic Rhodes and Anthony Gonzalez.

To some that may be frustrating, but to me it’s refreshing.

The Colts will have a great season this year, especially if they carry over the numbers that they had last year.

They were No. 1 in the league in points allowed with 262 points given up. They were third in the league in scoring with a total of 450 points.

So my point? Indianapolis is in great shape and they’re already on their way to another Super Bowl title.

There’s one other point I want to get across.

If you want Brett Favre to come back to the NFL, you’re crazy.

Favre, at this point, is out for the attention I think. Believe it or not, even old guys like Favre want attention.

Favre thought that he could sit there at the podium and cry his way into retirement. He thought he had so much power that the Packers would kick Aaron Rodgers aside just to have Favre back on the roster.

The idea of Favre signing on with another team is absolutely not an option.

Does anyone remember when Michael Jordan came back and played for the Wizards?

It just wasn’t the same. He was never a Wizard and will always remain a member of the Bulls.

Just like Favre will always be a Green Bay Packer.

But that title stays with him off the field and never again on the field.
