Lion’s Club outgoing president Ed Shilling hands the gavel to incoming president Cindy Hickson Wednesday evening at Brenda’s Cubbard at the meeting where Hickson became the first female president in the club’s 73-year history. “It’s quite an honor,” Hickson said. “They’re a great group. What’s amazing is we start with a verse of ‘America,’ the pledge of allegiance and a prayer. Those are three things you don’t get to do very much anymore.”
