Shooting victim remains in critical condition

Maria Flora | Lebanon ReporterSHOOTING SITE: No one was home Friday at the apartment of a 4-year-old girl police said was accidentally shot by her brother Thursday.

The 4-year-old girl shot in Lebanon Thursday remained in critical condition as of press time Friday, police said.

The girl is being treated at Indiana University Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis.

Her 2-year-old brother accidentally shot her in the head at about 10 a.m. at their grandparents’ apartment in the 300 block of North Park Street, Lebanon Police said in a press release.

The children were visiting the grandparents for a few days, said Justin Fuston, public information officer for the LPD.

Fuston said the gun used was not in a secure place, allowing the younger sibling access.

Police are investigating and questioned adults who were home at the time of the accident but do not suspect foul play, Fuston said Friday.
