Mr. Richard Jay Hinton, 87, Lebanon, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at Homewood Health Campus in Lebanon.

Mr. Richard Jay Hinton was born in Lebanon, Indiana, on Feb. 2, 1926, the son of the now late Earl and Hazel (Campbell) Hinton.

A life resident of Lebanon, Jay had attended Lebanon High School. Following school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Jay served his country honorably during WWII and the Korean War.

He was married to Fern Christina (Shanklin) Hinton and they divorced.

For many years, Jay worked in Indianapolis at General Motors until his retirement. After retirement, he worked part-time at IGA.

Jay enjoyed spending time and talking with his friends, he was also known to play the lottery occasionally.

Memberships: Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lebanon, and American Legion, Lebanon

Survivors: Two sons, Mr. Joseph S. Hinton, Perris, Calif., and Mr. John J. Hinton, Norwalk, Calif. and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased: In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert Fay Hinton, James C. Hinton, Everett Wayne Hinton, Russell G. Hinton, Bernard Maurice Hinton and John Hinton, and twin sisters in infancy.

Funeral services are planned for 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, at Myers Chapel of Memories, 1502 N. Lebanon St., Lebanon, Indiana, with Pastor Lee Faust officiating.

Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 4, 2013, at the funeral home in Lebanon, Indiana.

Interment with military rites will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Indiana.
