LAFAYETTE - It wasn't any surprise that the Zionsville girls swimming and diving team won the sectional title.
Monday night's win was the Eagles 17th in a row, and many of the scores haven't been all that close.
But even when the outcome is really not in doubt, Zionsville finds a way to raise the bar.
The Eagles scored 582 points, 15 points off a perfect score, which is their most ever in a sectional meet.
Zionsville went 1-2-3 in two events, and 1-2 in another four.
Every Eagle finished within the top-6 of their event.
Zionsville started the sectional off well on Saturday, going 1-2 in diving.
Ava Davis won the sectional in 341.05, with Delaney Housel placing second in 315.75. Campbell Stoner was sixth in a score of 264.60. Davis and Housel advance to the diving regional Tuesday night at Homestead.
Zionsville went 1-2-3 in the 200-free and butterfly.
In the 200-free, Reagan Mattice won in 1:53.38 and Annabelle Swiney was second in 1:53.49. Both girls advance to this weekend's state finals. Maggie Hadley was third in 1:56.45.
In the butterfly, Swiney won in a time of 57.35, with Annabel Hermacinski second in 58.69 and Claire McAfee third in 59.39.
Zionsville went 1-2 in the 100-free, with Katie Buroker winning in 52.45 and Avery Christian second in 54.84. Hailey Paulick was fifth in 55.90.
In the 500, the Eagles again went 1-2, with Mattice winning in 5:05.62 and Hadley placing second in 5:19.54. Ava Fleming was fifth in 5:30.04.
The Eagles also sent two to state in the breaststroke. Devon Kitchel won in 1:02.01 and Madelyn Akin was second in 1:05.38.
Anna Huston was fifth in 1:10.76.
Kitchel also won the IM in 1:59.96. Molly Simmons was third in 2:12.05 and Hermancinski was fourth in 2:13.98.
Buroker won the 50 in 24.22. Christian was third in 25.56 and Akin was third in 25.74.
Simmons won the backstroke in 56.51. Hannah Smolen was third in 1:02.01 and Victoria Lightwine was fourth in 1:02.81.
Zionsville swept all three relays.
The medley relay team of Simmons, Akin, Kitchel and Buroker won in 1:43.57.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team Kitchel, Christian, Swiney and Mattice won in 1:37.27.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Buroker, Mattice, Swiney and Simmons won in 3:33.66.
Lebanon placed fourth with 206 points.
Lebanon got third place in two relays. The team of Paige Howard, Cora Dial, Lily Gascho and Anna Hale placed third in the 200- and 400-freestyle relays in times of 1:49.45 and 4:01.91 respectively.
Dial was fifth in the backstroke in 1:04.34 and seventh in the 100 in 58.58.
Anna Hale was seventh in the butterfly in 1:07.04 and eighth in the IM in 2:27.03.
Taylor Moss was eighth in diving with a score of 222.05.
The medley relay team of Jessie Stevens, Kylee Rogriguez, Skylar Ritchie and Sydney Daisley placed sixth in 2:13.75.
