LEBANON — It was a night of falls, seniors and one big honor for a longtime coach.

The Lebanon wrestling team won its Senior Night meet Thursday, defeating Sheridan 52-18. The meet went quickly, as none of the matches went the full six minutes. All but two bouts were decided by outright pins, and the other two were settled by technical falls.

After the reserve matches, the Tigers honored their eight senior athletes, as well as senior Tiger Tender Dominique Skillington. Lebanon coach Bob Willhite also received an honor, as he was presented with an award for winning his 100th dual meet. Willhite reached that milestone Tuesday, when the Tigers defeated Noblesville.

“It’s nice,” Willhite said. “You’re only as good as your talent.” The coach said that he has had athletes that were talented, who worked very hard, and were a combination of both over the years. Willhite has been the Lebanon head coach since the 1999-2000 season.

The Tigers won the first seven matches of the meet. Sophomore Adam Skelton got the fall in 3 minutes, 34 seconds (at 130 pounds), senior Ethan Mann scored his pin in 2:46 (at 140 pounds) and senior Alan Ramsey won his match with a 1:30 pin (at 145 pounds). Senior Eli Smith won the 152-pound match on a 23-6 technical fall.

The pins continued at 160 pounds, as senior Ory Rachell got his fall at the 4:47 mark. Freshman Jesse Boley won at 171 pounds on a 3:15 pin, and senior Brett Dickinson grabbed a 189-pound victory with a 16-0 technical fall.

Sheridan won the next two matches, but senior David Blanchard ended the meet with a pin for Lebanon, getting the fall in 1:13. Junior Ryland Leavitt won at 135 pounds by forfeit.

In reserve matches, Lebanon senior Jason Metzger scored a pin victory in 2:25, and sophomore Trey Leppien also won by pin, getting the fall in 1:16. In an all-Lebanon exhibition match, junior Aaron Showlater beat senior Brad Curts 10-4.

The SAC meet begins at 9 a.m., at North Montgomery High School. A draw is available on our Web site,
